The sheltered bay of Garda, with its lush vegetation of cypress trees, olives, myrtle and oleanders, offers one of the most spectacular panoramic views of Lake Garda, located on the magnificent coastline between the Rocca and Punta San Vigilio.
Curiosity: Garda used to be the principal defence point of the southern part of the lake. Its name, in fact, comes from the German word "Warte", which means the guardian, and little by little the name Garda was extended to the entire area, till beginning to indicate the whole lake area around the 11th century. From then on the Latin name of Benàco was changed to Garda.
